The Rotary Club of Leicester Novus is a new and exciting Rotary Club. It was Chartered on 13th June 2009 and its founder members are now being joined by more new members, growing it into an even more diverse and thriving Rotary Club.
Do you think that a Rotary Club is full of middle class, old, white men? Well some are and there are plenty of Clubs like that if that is what you want to join. However, the Rotary Club of Leicester Novus is not the typical Rotary Club, although hopefully typical of future Clubs!
We are a dual-gender, mixed race Club with members from a wide business and community background and a diverse age group (from 23 to 70+).
As we’re a new Club, we’re still learning all about Rotary, what it means to be a member and how we can help our local community as well as the greater, international community. We’re having lots of fun doing this and have made some great friends along the way.

Whilst we are a new Club and like to do things our own way sometimes, we still follow the Rotary ideals.
The motto of Rotary is “Service above Self”. We have a 4 way test of all the things we think, say or do:
- Is it the TRUTH?
- Is it FAIR to all concerned?
- Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
- Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
We meet every Thursday evening at 7:30pm the Stoneycroft Hotel, 5/7 Elmfield Avenue, Leicester LE2 1RB. Although many Rotary Clubs have a meal as a matter of course during their meetings, we have decided not to, to keep costs to members down. Meals are available for members and guests to buy individually in the Hotel Restaurant before our meeting.
